Is my business eligible for HUBZone certification?
Your business may be eligible for HUBZone certification if it meets the following:
Your business is small. Visit the SBA website to check if you meet this requirement.
The business’ principal office is in a HUBZone
At least 35% of the employees must reside within a HUBZone.
Your business must be at least 51% owned by U.S. citizens, or be a business owned by an Indian Tribal Government, an Alaska Native Corporation, a Community Development Corporation, a Native Hawaiian Organization, or be a small agricultural cooperative.
Why should I apply for HUBZone certification?
Select contracts can be reserved for HUBZone firms, effectively reducing your pool of competition, while increasing your chances for winning bids.
Firms are eligible to receive a 10% price evaluation preference in full and open competition procurements.
The Federal Government wants to support HUBZone certified businesses and has set a goal of awarding 3% of all federal prime contract dollars for them.
Before you participate in the HUBZone Pilot, visit SBA HUBZone Map to see if you are located in a HUBZone: Visit hubzone-maps. When applying for the HUBZone program, make sure to work with your KYPTAC Counselor to collect all supporting documents appropriate for your entity.
